What’s the Difference Between Corrugated Boxes and Cardboard Boxes?

People often use the terms “corrugated boxes” and “cardboard boxes” interchangeably, but they are not the same. Cardboard boxes can refer to boxes made of a variety of pulp paper such as stiff chipboard used to make a shoe box or thinner chipboard used in folding cartons like a toothpaste box. On the other hand, corrugated boxes are made of a combination of flat linerboard and a fluted medium, both made of durable kraft paper known as containerboard. This combination makes corrugated boxes much stronger, making them ideal for shipping. In fact, cardboard boxes are not sturdy enough to be shipped on their own and need to be packaged inside corrugated boxes for protection. At Arvco, we specialize in the manufacture of corrugated boxes for foodservice and industrial applications. Our design and engineering team can help you create a box that fits your company’s needs and protects your product during shipping. Additionally, corrugated boxes can also serve as a merchandising display, making them versatile and cost-effective solutions. All you need to know is the shape, weight, size of your product (ideally with a physical sample), and the quantities you want to include in each box, and our team will handle the rest.
