Catering Boxes Built for High-Volume Foodservice Operations

catering boxes

Catering and high-pressure situations are synonymous. The last thing any catering company wants is to drop the ball at a two-hundred-person wedding or a large, important corporate gathering. Something that can quickly tarnish a catering organization’s reputation? Poor packaging.

Catering boxes and takeout containers need to hold up during transportation, stacking, and long service windows. They should also present the food and the business behind it in a polished, professional way. Arvco Container Corporation has worked with many food service OEMs throughout our 55 year history. With our comprehensive custom packaging services, we design and test corrugated containers that meet the unique demands of catering applications.

Structuring High Volume Catering Boxes

Standard cardboard boxes lack the reinforced construction needed for catering applications involving large food volumes and strict quality expectations. Arvco uses strong corrugated boards to create catering boxes that hold steady at scale. This strength is dependent on flute profile, linerboard grade, and adhesive bond quality. Our team selects each variable based on each application’s specific load requirements.

B-flute and C-flute board are often used for catering boxes since it offers a thinner profile but exceptional crush resistance, which prevents the containers from buckling when stacked on top of one another. E-flute provides a smooth print surface, making it well suited for branded steam pan boxes.

Inner and Outer Layer Protection

Stacking stress is not the only challenge of packaging high volumes of hot food. Grease and moisture can weaken a container during transport, which is why catering boxes often include moisture-resistant interior coatings. A box without the proper protective measures may result in lost product and safety concerns.

Custom Sizing for Catering Applications

Cuisine, portion sizes, and delivery formats can vary greatly from one catering job to the next. Generic boxes can’t usually accommodate the broad spectrum of catering formats, spanning individual meal trays to large steam pans.

Arvco Container Corporation customizes catering boxes based on exact dimensional tolerances using advanced die-cutting equipment. We can create compartmentalized containers for multi-item meals as well as vented configurations for hot food items.

Flexo Printed Graphics That Accurately Represent Your Brand

Catering jobs often come from word-of-mouth recommendations, so clear, accurate brand representation is essential. At large events, hundreds or even thousands of guests may see your packaging. If they need catering later, a well-branded box helps keep your company top of mind.

Arvco Container Corporation’s packaging graphic design team creates full-scale mockups and computerized renderings, so you can review and approve the artwork before production begins. Our flexographic printing capabilities then bring those designs to life with high-resolution graphics and durable, food-safe ink formulations.
